1969, a metallic year
There are those who are born artists, and those who become artists
Raised in a world surrounded by the smell of iron and the precision agricultural machinery that provided the basis for the family business, Dominique Réol formed an innate relationship with metal. And because all personal stories have real meaning, Dominique’s journey brings something unique – over time, the knowledge and understanding has embedded, to nurture an ingrained passion that fires his imagination. Today, some 45 years later, Dominique Réol is at the forefront of a creative venture built on affinity and ‘savoir-faire’, the two qualities essential to his art.
Dominique Réol works in a unique world in unique ways. Using a methodology known only to Atelier DR, industrial parts sourced from redundant agricultural machinery are transformed, bringing an extraordinary elegance to elements once ignored and considered mundane.
Each part, precisely chosen for their patina and aged-beauty, worn through years of turning the earth, are worked again and are reborn. It’s a process of alchemy, where notably through the Eclipse series, we see a seemingly impossible combination, as heavy iron turns to refined and perfected light.
